Reality sets the conditions for collaboration among people. It always has and always will. Right now, our reality is more chaotic and less predictable than ever before. Large, complex tasks are in the queue and can only be solved with solid collaboration. However, collaboration as a subject is not in focus. In many places, we rely on our natural talent and the ‘act like grown-ups’ approach. If you ask individuals in Danish organizations whether they themselves need a competence boost without collaboration, the majority answer is, “No, I collaborate all the time.” When you ask the same people if they think their internal and external partners need to strengthen their collaboration skills, the majority answer, “YES – that would be great!” – and that equation just doesn’t add up!
